Our interest in creating a statewide Virginia LGBT news, events, and resource web portal was born out of our experience as publishers of OutWire757.com, the LGBT web portal serving Hampton Roads.
We looked around the Commonwealth and realized that many of the smaller cities and rural areas had no single clearing house of information for their LGBT community.
We’ve addressed that need by dividing the Commonwealth into seven regions. Each has its own “page” with a unique URL that displays relevant content:
We’ve also created a calendar of statewide events, a statewide LGBT resource directory, and a weekly email newsletter.
The site will be only as good as the content, and we hope you’ll help us create it for your area. Here’s how your business or organization can participate:
If you distribute news releases and/or photos to media, please add our editor, Andrew Roberts, andrew at outvirginia.com, to your media list.
If you have a Facebook page, please also send him the link so we can follow you. We pick up a lot of news from our partners’ social media.
If you are privy to any LGBT-relevant news or feature story leads in your area, email Andrew with details and contacts, and we’ll do the writing.
If you know of any writers who’d like to contribute in exchange for a byline and glory, send them on to us.
Submit your upcoming events to our calendar.
Add your business or organization to our resource directory.
Subscribe to our email newsletter.
In the near future, we will be adding for-pay marketing opportunities. These basic features will be forever free.
